Beijing woman held for three days after slapping tour guide in southwest Yunnan

A tourist from Beijing visiting southwest China has been detained for slapping a local tour during a row and biting a shop employee who tried to intervene, local media reports.

The 32-year-old woman tourist, identified only by her surname Lu, was shopping in a jade store in Tengchong in Yunnan province on Friday morning, according to local news portal Yunnan.cn.

Lu was allegedly using her smartphone to film some of the jade products when the guide stopped her.

The two argued and Lu slapped the guide on the face, the report said, citing police.

A store employee tried to intervene, but Lu allegedly bit her hand.

Police were called and took her away. During questioning, she admitted to her actions and was given three days of administrative detention, according to the report.

But in a twist, the tour guide appealed to the authorities to show leniency towards Lu, as she was far from her home.The police rejected her request, according to the report.
