Chinese designer Guo Pei opened Singapore Fashion Week with a 34-piece collection heavy on tassels, embroidered trains and brocade.
The five-day event is taking place on the main stage at the National Gallery Singapore and showcases 20 designers, all from Asia.
Beijing-based Guo found fame in the West when she designed THAT yellow-embroidered, fur-trimmed dress and cape for Rihanna to wear at the Metropolitan Museum gala in May 2015.
There are also 13 home-grown designers featured.
For the first time, shoppers can buy selected looks from Singaporean designers seen on the festival’s catwalks immediately at online retailer Zalora.sg and at the SGFW Co pop-up at the National Gallery.
