Hong Kong’s first dedicated athleisure fashion boutique has opened on Hollywood Road in premises once occupied by an antiques dealer.
The store stocks clothing from more than 50 brands. Some are exclusive or new to the region, including Kooples Sport, the Olympia and Alo lines from the United States, and eco-friendly label Daquini, which uses Italian and French fabrics. Some items are performance-based, while others, such as Monreal London and Koral, have a strong fashion aesthetic.
Swimwear also features alongside intimates, including a brand called Skin which offers loungewear made from super soft 100 per cent organic cotton.
The beauty selection is extensive and features hard-to-find brands, many of which are chemical-free and vegan, including EiR NYC, Green Spring from Ireland, Ella Milla non-toxic nail polish and Hong Kong-based Pure Earth.
Caelum Greene is also the first official Etsy wholesaler in Hong Kong, so expect to find items such as handcrafted stationery and candles from the site’s best sellers.
Owned by Charlotte Tsuei, an experienced fashion retailer, the airy, 1,700 sq ft store features white brick walls covered in non-toxic paint and plenty of greenery, including an indoor “greenhouse” structure for eco-friendly labels, potted plants, an indoor vertical garden and outdoor zen garden decorated with fairy lights (there are plans to host community events there such as meditation).
The paper bags and store cards are printed on recycled paper, and if you bring your own shopping bag, HK$5 will be donated to environmental NGO Redress. Even the mannequins, sourced in the US state of Colorado, are made from a plant-based material to ensure that they are more sustainable.
Caelum Greene is at 90-92 Hollywood Road, Central, tel: 2548 1827
