Stray dog pierced with arrow found wandering through university in central China

A stray dog was found pierced through the body with an arrow at a university in central China, a newspaper reported.

The injured dog was found lingering near the student dormitories at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan in Hubei province on Wednesday, the Chutian Metropolis Daily said.

Photographs of the animal were posted on social media and created an outcry among internet users.

Volunteers from the Wuhan Animal Protection Association and dog lovers in the neighbourhood came looking for the dog after seeing its plight on social media.

The animal was eventually found in a dormitory building and was later sent for medical treatment by the volunteers.

A dormitory official was quoted as saying that there were several stray dogs living in the area.

Students fed them and security guards allowed them to roam, but it was not clear who might have harmed the animal, the official said.
